Présentation de Sedayet MAYACI, doctorante en droit public du CERCRID (UMR 5137)

This video is an interview with Sedayet MAYACI, a doctoral student in public law at CERCRID (UMR 5137) at the University of Jean Monnet Saint-Etienne. She presents her atypical academic path, starting with fashion design studies before turning to law. She completed her law studies at Saint-Etienne, including a master’s in international, European, and comparative law and a magistère in high legal careers. Her master’s thesis focused on citizenship and nationality in the UK. Her doctoral project, started in 2024, is titled “Access to nationality: a comparative study of French and UK law.” She aims to analyze historical, political, and cultural factors influencing nationality law in both countries, using a multidisciplinary and empirical approach, including interviews with relevant authorities. She highlights the lack of comprehensive comparative research on this topic. She chose CERCRID for its critical and empirical orientation and support. She discusses the challenges of balancing thesis work with teaching duties and plans a research stay in the UK in April 2026 to conduct fieldwork.
