Privacy policy

Our privacy commitment and its limits with service providers.

Controller and contact

The service operates under the name PostSingularity Institute. For questions or requests about your data: info@postsingularityinstitute.org . We generally aim to respond within 48 to 72 hours.

What PSI does not retain and why

Our policy is to keep personal data processing to the strict minimum. We make every effort not to retain personal information about people who read PSI, contribute to its content or support it. Access to knowledge should not lead to building a record about the reader.

PSI does not build reader or donor profiles, produce statistics about its users or link donations to votes or the guestbook. Banking details and card data are not collected by PSI: payments take place with Stripe. Public donation reports do not disclose donor identities.

Support correspondence and information submitted through the refund form are used only to handle your request. Once the request is completed, we delete this correspondence. The form uses a temporary private queue and processing on the PSI server, first by script, then with AI assistance if necessary and human review as a last resort. Identifying payment data is not sent to the AI provider. The form does not create a donor profile or save its contents in the catalogue.

What remains necessary for the service

This policy of non-retention does not mean that no personal information can be processed, even temporarily. Support uses your email address and the details of your request. Servers may process technical access information, including IP addresses; values derived from these addresses to limit contribution frequency do not guarantee anonymity.

Donation tracking retains amounts, currencies, allocations, dates, payment states and technical references needed for reconciliation and duplicate prevention, without building a donor identity database. These references are not automatically deleted when a support request is closed.

The catalogue retains public information about videos and channels, transcripts and contributions useful to PSI’s content. Public information about a creator can itself be personal data. Observations needed to correct inconsistencies remain retained. After moderation, the guestbook publishes the chosen name or pseudonym and message: do not include private information you do not wish to make public.

Display preferences remain in your browser. The reading position uses the tab’s session storage; the refund form uses a session cookie needed to secure submission. You can remove these items through browser settings.

PSI Companion: video metadata

Automatic sharing of video metadata through PSI Companion is an explicit choice in the extension, independent of payment. This public metadata includes the video’s title and identifier, channel, dates and public metrics. Disabling it stops future submissions; it does not delete contributions already received.

After import and acknowledgement, metadata values are removed from the web intake database. Imported information remains in the catalogue, with technical records needed to keep imports consistent.

The limits of our policy with providers

Our strict privacy policy cannot be extended to intermediaries and providers. Their services are governed by their own privacy policies.

PSI uses Infomaniak for hosting and email in Switzerland, DeepInfra for content processing in the United States and Stripe for payments. Stripe’s processing is international, including in the United States and India. YouTube and other external services you access also apply their own policies.

Your requests and security

For questions about data concerning you, or requests for correction or deletion, contact PSI at the address at the top of this page. We will review your request under applicable conditions and explain any limitations. An aggregated vote or public observation cannot always be associated with a person.

Connections to the website use HTTPS. Administrative access to data and payment tools is restricted to authorised people.
